(ATLANTA, GA)--Since 2007, the Historic Ebenezer Baptist Church Heritage
Sanctuary has been closed to the public. Now for the first time since the post
1970s it has been restored to look as it did when Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
co-pastored with his father, "Daddy King". Except for the organ, everything in
the church was cleaned up and restored.  The church held its reopening ceremony
on April 15, 2011.  Ken Salazar, Secretary of the Interior, was at the
historical ceremony. He said that the church and national site were important
for our children and grandchildren to view. At the end of the ceremony, Salazar
was presented the Honorary Park Ranger Award.
